Sancerre

Sancerre is probably the most famous of all regions in France's Loire Valley. Its most special attribute is the calcareous clay, or kimmeridgean soil, which is the same type of soil located in Burgundy's Chablis region. The Loire is most famous for Sauvignon Blanc, and here it is often a beautiful expression of dried grapefruit, caraway, lemon, gooseberry, and cut grass, along with a beautiful minerality which comes through on the finish.
