2005 Rocca delle Macìe Ser Gioveto 1.5L

$205.00

Ser Gioveto was first created in 1985 by Italo Zingarelli, founder of Rocca delle Macìe, as a tribute to his son Sergio who began working alongside him at the winery that same year. The name of the wine is also a reference to the archaic name of Sangiovese Sangioveto, the primary grape in this Tuscan red wine. Rich and persistent on the nose, with a balanced amount of oak from barrel aging. This wine is dryand refined, with a good structure and a long finish.

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy's most recognized and beloved wine regions, and the red Sangiovese grape rules here. Within Tuscany, great Sangiovese-based wines can be found in a diversity of styles from Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Carmignano, and Vino Nobile di Montapulciano. It is also here where the great "Super Tuscans" were started, in the area of Bolgheri. These tend to be comprised of Sangiovese blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. Tuscany is also home to great white wines such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and sweet wines called Vin Santo.
