St. Laurent is an indigenous Austrian red wine grape, cultivated in almost every wine-growing region in the country. However, it’s quite a demanding grape, it ripens early and is susceptible to sunburn and botrytis. It takes a talented vintner like Roman Paffl to coax the wonderful potential out of this grape. This Altenberg Reserve is ripe and juicy but with fine woven tannins that hold the structure together. Hints of cinnamon and plum add to the full-flavored palate.
