Sparkling wines have been produced in Italy’s Piedmont region for hundreds of years. Fontanafredda Estate & Winery’s Contessa Rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made by the classic method - the same method that is used in the production of Champagne. A new technique was used in the production of this cuvee; an expedition liqueur made with 1967 Barolo was added before bottling, resulting in a delicate pink hue. Aromas of orange blossom, pomegranate, black plums, and spices lead to a savory, mineral-driven palate with fine, persistent bubbles and a citrus finish.
