2010 Altemasi Millesimato

From the hillsides of Trentino comes Altemasi Millesimato Trento DOC: one of the finest sparkling wines from Italy. Made using the traditional Metodo Classico, Chardonnay grapes are hand-selected, de-stemmed and crushed before undergoing weekly bâtonage during fermentation. Second fermentation occurs in the bottle and wine is aged on the lees for at least 36 months. The result is a pleasantly crisp, well-balanced wine.

ABV % = 12.5

Northern Italy's Trentino region is located in the foothills of the Dolomite Alps, along the Adige River. Most of the grapes are grown on the eastern and western slopes, which form the valley along the Adige. The area is famous for whites from Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as reds from Pinot Noir, Lagrein, and Teroldego. Most of the region makes dry still wines, but it is acclaimed for some of the best traditional method sparkling wine in the world, made under the TrentoDOC appellation from Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
