2011 Schloss Reinhartshausen Erbacher Marcobrunn Auslese Gold

Schloss Reinhartshausen enjoys a one-of-a-kind positioning on Mariannenaue, an island in the middle of the Rhine River formed roughly 10,000 years ago by the currents of the river. This 100% Riesling is made from hand-harvested, very ripe, botrytised grapes from the Marcobrunn vineyard, one of the most famous sites in the Rheingau region. Low and slow fermetation allows flavors to develop: peach apricot and pineapple with powerful notes of hazelnut, dried fruit, honey and herbs. A wonderful match for pâtés and cheeses and Asian cuisines. Capable of aging over 25 years.

The Rheingau is further south in Germany than the Mosel, situated on the Rhein river. This region is famous for its dry Riesling wines from Erstes Gewachs, or grand cru, vineyards. There are also amazing Rieslings which are off-dry to fruity, as well as some stellar Pinot Noir.
