2012 MontGras Carmenère Reserva

Carménère is a medium bodied red grape that originated in Bordeaux but is now almost exclusively grown in Chile. It suffers from imposter syndrome and was originally thought to be Merlot when first transplanted but lucky for us, the variety has thrived in the terroir of Chile and has taken on its own unique personality. Dark fruits reign supreme in the flavor profile of this wine, blackberries and currants intermingle with spicy notes of fresh ground pepper balanced with round tannins and a long finish.

Colchagua Valley

Colchagua Valley is located within Chile's Central Valley, and is best know for high quality Cabernet Sauvignon and other red wines. The microclimate is impacted by the warm ripening conditions from the valley, combined with a convection affect that brings cool air from the Andes. This serves to moderate the temperatures and bring balance to the wines.
