Savennières
Terroir, power, elegance, and the ability to age combine to make this the most unique of all the regions in the Loire which grow Chenin Blanc. These wines are know for their dominant bruised-apple character, gravelly texture, and the flavor of chamomile which rounds out the palate. Sometimes these wines also take on a slight ginger or saffron note, coming from botrytis, and they can be powerfully acid-driven. In their youth they have freshness to balance this incredible spectrum of naunces. With age (and they do age!), they take on more dried fruit, honey, and herbal tea character.
