2013 Dom. Coffinet-Duvernay 1Er Cru Les Blanchots Dessus

$110.00

The Blanchot Dessus vineyard lies just south of the famed Grand Cru Le Montrachet; sharing many of the same distinct characteristics of terroir. Rocky limestone atop mineral rich clay soil are the perfect foundation for growing world-class Chardonnay. A blend of honey and herbal notes, apple, pear and tropical fruits, and an underlying earthy tone bring this wine into perfect balance. Pair with ripe cheeses such as Burgundy’s celebrated Epoisses.

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet is a village in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune which is famous for great Chardonnay. Originally named Chassagne-le Haut, in 1879 it was changed to reflect its most famous grand cru vineyard, Montrachet. Within Chassagne there are also the grand crus of Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are shared with the neighboring village of Puligny). There are also 48 different premiers crus in Chassagne, as well as the village wine labeled as “Chassagne-Montrachet.” Chassagne wines are known for their richness and smokiness, influenced by a combination of limestone, sand, and gravel soils.
