2013 Tenute Lunelli Teuto

In the hills near Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany, the Lunelli organically farms the vines that produce this wonderful red blend. Made of predominantly Sangiovese, blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine hints at Bordeaux, with a personality all its own. Aromas of dark fruits and fresh ground coffee develop into sweeter stewed black fruits, cherries and prunes with a touch of caramelized balsamic. These flavors develop with each sip, finishing with fine-ground tannins and a lovely balance.

ABV % = 14

Tuscany is one of Italy's most recognized and beloved wine regions, and the red Sangiovese grape rules here. Within Tuscany, great Sangiovese-based wines can be found in a diversity of styles from Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Carmignano, and Vino Nobile di Montapulciano. It is also here where the great "Super Tuscans" were started, in the area of Bolgheri. These tend to be comprised of Sangiovese blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. Tuscany is also home to great white wines such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and sweet wines called Vin Santo.
