Corton-Charlemagne

Corton-Charlemagne is a grand cru in Burgundy's Côte-de-Beaune, located on top of the hill of Corton. The hill of Corton allows for both red and white grand cru wine, made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively, but the vineyard of Charlemagne is white wine only. Whereas the wines from Pulign, and Chassagne are known for their minerality, Corton-Charlemagne is known for its power. These wines are known to have rich, ripe fruit, a big, round texture, and a finish that seems to last forever. They are traditionally oaked to balance that fruit intensity, and this expresses as rich and toasty versus buttery.
