2014 Dom. Antonin Guyon Puligny Mont 1Er Cru Les Pucelles

$177.00

Antonin Guyon built his empire in the Côte d’Or hectare by hectare; accumulating hundreds of parcels from different growers ranging from Meursault to Gevry. Antonin’s sons Dominique and Michel preside over the 47 hectares, producing impeccable quality wines from 25 different appellations. Les Pucelles is one of the most famous of Puligny’s 1er Crus, a beautiful expression of Chardonnay with ethereal aromas of pear and apple mixed with notes of mushroom and earth. Full-bodied with a long finish due to 15 months of barrel aging on the lees.

Puligny-Montrachet

Puligny-Montrachet is the most powerfully mineral of the white wines in Beaune. Here is where the limestone takes center stage in the village wines, the premier crus, as well as the grand crus. The village wines are known to be incredibly structured, with lots of earth, mineral, and lean, nervy fruit. Due to their power, these wines can take a fare amount of new wood, and the toast and spice balance the fruit character. The grand crus are Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, and Bienvénues-Bâtard-Montrachet. They are listed in descending order of power-scale, however none of them are light by any means.
