2014 Rocca delle Macìe Rubizzo Rosso di Toscana

$15.00

This Sangiovese wine from famed Rocca delle Macìe was a revelation to traditional Chianti drinkers when crafted in the 1970s by the late Italo Zingarelli (the famed Italian film producer and wine producer). Vinified using the latest controlled-fermentation techniques to keep the temperature constant, the resulting Rubizzo has a brilliant ruby red color with intense, ripe berry fruits. Rubizzo has a very approachable style and pairs well with pasta, red or white meat, spicy foods and seafood.

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy's most recognized and beloved wine regions, and the red Sangiovese grape rules here. Within Tuscany, great Sangiovese-based wines can be found in a diversity of styles from Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Carmignano, and Vino Nobile di Montapulciano. It is also here where the great "Super Tuscans" were started, in the area of Bolgheri. These tend to be comprised of Sangiovese blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. Tuscany is also home to great white wines such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and sweet wines called Vin Santo.
