2015 Dom. Coffinet-Duvernay 1Er Cru Les Fairendes

$79.00

Coffinet-Duvernay is the beautiful blend of Philippe Duvernay and Laura Coffinet, the vineyards have been in the Coffient family since the mid-1800s but were sold to other wineries. It wasn’t until Laura met Philippe that they began making their own wine from the vines. Capable of aging for decades, these impeccable wines have never been available in the US before now. The Fairendes vineyard produces a beautiful Chardonnay rich with ripe pear and apple with earthy undertones.

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet is a village in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune which is famous for great Chardonnay. Originally named Chassagne-le Haut, in 1879 it was changed to reflect its most famous grand cru vineyard, Montrachet. Within Chassagne there are also the grand crus of Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are shared with the neighboring village of Puligny). There are also 48 different premiers crus in Chassagne, as well as the village wine labeled as “Chassagne-Montrachet.” Chassagne wines are known for their richness and smokiness, influenced by a combination of limestone, sand, and gravel soils.
