2015 Fernand Et. Laurent Pillot 1Er Cru Les Champgains

$65.00

The Pillot family cultivates 35 acres of vines across 22 different appellations, centered around the hills of Chassagne-Montrachet. "Les Champgains" is located in the village, enjoying sun-filled exposures mid-slope on the hill 800 feet above sea level. Notes of lemon and grapefruit lead to a round and rich mouthfeel, you can almost taste that sunshine right in the glass. A perfect aperitif on its own, this wine also pairs nicely with grilled fish or shellfish and white meats in creamy sauces.

ABV % = 13.5

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet is a village in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune which is famous for great Chardonnay. Originally named Chassagne-le Haut, in 1879 it was changed to reflect its most famous grand cru vineyard, Montrachet. Within Chassagne there are also the grand crus of Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are shared with the neighboring village of Puligny). There are also 48 different premiers crus in Chassagne, as well as the village wine labeled as “Chassagne-Montrachet.” Chassagne wines are known for their richness and smokiness, influenced by a combination of limestone, sand, and gravel soils.
