2015 Tenute Lunelli Villa Margon


Villa Margon, owned by the Lunelli family, sits on the right bank of the Adige River, south-west of Trento in the Alto-Adige region of northern Italy. The surrounding sandy soils are well-suited for growing Chardonnay. The resulting wine is complex, well-structured, and elegant. With aromas of apple, grapefruit and almond blossom, and a touch of toastfrom 8 months spent aging in partial oak barrels. This wine is ready to drink tonight but also capable of aging.

Northern Italy's Trentino region is located in the foothills of the Dolomite Alps, along the Adige River. Most of the grapes are grown on the eastern and western slopes, which form the valley along the Adige. The area is famous for whites from Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as reds from Pinot Noir, Lagrein, and Teroldego. Most of the region makes dry still wines, but it is acclaimed for some of the best traditional method sparkling wine in the world, made under the TrentoDOC appellation from Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
