2016 Castello di Verrazzano Bottiglia Particolare

$65.99

Castello di Verrazzano has played a memorable role in Tuscan winemaking and American history. Owners Luigi and Silvia Cappellini pour their passion into the estate, producing traditional wines that deservedly built an incredibly loyal following worldwide. Hand-harvested and fermented in small batches, the Particolare is deep ruby red in color with pronounced vanilla, blackberries, and oak on the nose. Elegant, rich, and silky with soft tannins and background notes of vanilla and chocolate.

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy's most recognized and beloved wine regions, and the red Sangiovese grape rules here. Within Tuscany, great Sangiovese-based wines can be found in a diversity of styles from Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Carmignano, and Vino Nobile di Montapulciano. It is also here where the great "Super Tuscans" were started, in the area of Bolgheri. These tend to be comprised of Sangiovese blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. Tuscany is also home to great white wines such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and sweet wines called Vin Santo.
