2016 Concerto Toscana IGT

The estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, well cared for by the 26th generation of the Mazzei family. The "Concerto" blend was originally born in 1981 and was one of the forerunners in the "Super Tuscans" phenomenon. Predominantly Sangiovese blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine spends 18 months in 70% new small French oak barrels. It is powerful yet fine, rich and juicy with notes of black fruits, tobacco and spice. It has the potential to age for the next 20 years.

ABV % = 14.5

Tuscany is one of Italy's most recognized and beloved wine regions, and the red Sangiovese grape rules here. Within Tuscany, great Sangiovese-based wines can be found in a diversity of styles from Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Carmignano, and Vino Nobile di Montapulciano. It is also here where the great "Super Tuscans" were started, in the area of Bolgheri. These tend to be comprised of Sangiovese blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. Tuscany is also home to great white wines such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and sweet wines called Vin Santo.
