Dornfelder is a German variety that is relatively new on the scene, it was released for cultivation in 1979. A darker-skinned grape than typical German varieties, Dornfelder has allowed German wine production to veer towards more internationally-styled red wines. With great depth of color, good acidity, and it's fondness for oak aging, the wine is rich in berry and aromatic spice aromas finishing with a pleasant dried-cherry palate with light tannins.
