2016 Fernand Et. Laurent Pillot 1Er Cru Morgeot

Morgeot is the perfect example of the white wines of large amplitude that Chassagne-Montrachet is know for. A generous wine that will benefit from 3-4 years of aging. Limestone terroir reflects in this aromatic wine showing white fruit, vanilla and hints of orange. A lovely pairing for trout cooked with almonds.

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet is a village in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune which is famous for great Chardonnay. Originally named Chassagne-le Haut, in 1879 it was changed to reflect its most famous grand cru vineyard, Montrachet. Within Chassagne there are also the grand crus of Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are shared with the neighboring village of Puligny). There are also 48 different premiers crus in Chassagne, as well as the village wine labeled as “Chassagne-Montrachet.” Chassagne wines are known for their richness and smokiness, influenced by a combination of limestone, sand, and gravel soils.
