2016 Fernand Et. Laurent Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Villages

$53.00

The Chassagne-Montrachet Village wine is at the heart of the Pillot domaine. A blend of 2 parcels near the village itself go into the wine which is then aged in 25% new French oak for 11-12 months. The result is beautifully harmonious, with white fruit aromas and well integrated oak. This wine is ready to drink tonight with fish dishes or a cheese plate, or can be aged for 5 to 7 years.

ABV % = 13.5

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet is a village in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune which is famous for great Chardonnay. Originally named Chassagne-le Haut, in 1879 it was changed to reflect its most famous grand cru vineyard, Montrachet. Within Chassagne there are also the grand crus of Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are shared with the neighboring village of Puligny). There are also 48 different premiers crus in Chassagne, as well as the village wine labeled as “Chassagne-Montrachet.” Chassagne wines are known for their richness and smokiness, influenced by a combination of limestone, sand, and gravel soils.
