2017 Dom. Coffinet-Duvernay Rouge Les Voillenots

$41.00

While over 50% of the Coffinet-Duvernay vineyard holdings are dedicated to white wine, the plot of “Voillenots-Dessus”, located on the lower slopes just below the village of Chassagne, is planted with Pinot Noir. A bright cherry red color with a nose of fresh raspberries invites you into the glass where flavors of cherry and plum with a hint of spice develop. Structured yet balanced, this wine is great for tonight or the next 5 years.

ABV % = 12

Chassagne-Montrachet

Chassagne-Montrachet is a village in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune which is famous for great Chardonnay. Originally named Chassagne-le Haut, in 1879 it was changed to reflect its most famous grand cru vineyard, Montrachet. Within Chassagne there are also the grand crus of Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are shared with the neighboring village of Puligny). There are also 48 different premiers crus in Chassagne, as well as the village wine labeled as “Chassagne-Montrachet.” Chassagne wines are known for their richness and smokiness, influenced by a combination of limestone, sand, and gravel soils.
