2021 Recanati Upper Galilee Chardonnay

The calcareous soli found on the slopes of Kerem Ben Zimra in the Golan Heights (2,500 ft. above sea level) results in wines with elegant flavors. Recanati’s Chardonnay is fermented in small French oak barrels and aged sur lie. Following Burgundy tradition, the wine is mixed with yeast every three weeks to enhance its creaminess, delicate fruit and complexity.

Upper Galilee

Upper Galilee is located in Israel, north of Tel Aviv. It is often compared to California's Sonoma County in terms of climate, soil, and geographic location in relation to the ocean. Naturally, a lot of the same grape varieties grow here, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvginon Blanc. Mediterranean varieties, like Syrah, Carignan, and Petite Sirah, also grow exceptionally well here.
