This tiny 3 acre “clos” lies within the larger Rosacker Grand Cru vineyard and has been in the Trimbach family since 1919. The 50-year-old vines are planted in cool, calcareous clay soil with a high percentage of limestone, producing a wine that becomes more intense as it ages. A cool, slow fermentation and a short period of aging in neutral oak preserves the fruit characteristics before a minimum of 5 years of bottling aging prior to release. A wonderful example of the celebrated “Trimbach” style: structured, longlived, fruity, elegant and balanced.
