MULT Col d'Orcia Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva '01, '04 & '07

$475.00

Among the rolling hills of Tuscany lies the Col d’Orcia estate, known as the ‘the hill overlooking the Orcia River’ when translated. Their dedication to quality originates from their love integrity for the land, respect for traditional winemaking and perfect growing conditions. This quality is reflective in the prestigious Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, made from 100% Sangiovese. This wine spends 6 years in the bottle, 4 years in Slavonian and French oak casks, before it is released. A multi-dimensional wine, expect layers of licorice, mushroom, and red fruit tightly structured, followed by a lengthy finish.

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy's most recognized and beloved wine regions, and the red Sangiovese grape rules here. Within Tuscany, great Sangiovese-based wines can be found in a diversity of styles from Chianti, Chianti Classico, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Morellino di Scansano, Carmignano, and Vino Nobile di Montapulciano. It is also here where the great "Super Tuscans" were started, in the area of Bolgheri. These tend to be comprised of Sangiovese blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. Tuscany is also home to great white wines such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and sweet wines called Vin Santo.
